May 2015 ... end of our Autumn.
Not much has changed since my GBBD post last month. Our dry season is now well underway and there's been absolutely no rain at all for quite some time now. Thankfully it seems as if our long, long, hot Summer is over.
We had a rather pleasant cool day today. I woke up to around 18 deg C early this morning and it was only 19 deg C around morning tea time. So, it's the 15th of April already and time for a Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day post. My last GBBD post was back in January, which was our mid-Summer month here Downunder. Now it's mid-Autumn. Here we are with the first month of the new gardening year almost over. January, our mid-Summer month, has flown by so quickly it seems. As November comes to a close, Springtime here in the tropics is nearing its end. The spring-blooming native Planchonia careya, or Cocky Apple, is still showing off its strange flowers though,

Rain in October is not unheard of here, but it is not usual. So I've really enjoyed listening to the drumming of rain on the corrugated tin roof over a couple of nights lately. It has been a while since I last added a Garden Journal post, and the main reason is simply that I haven't been doing all that much around the garden for some time now.

June is our early winter month, and it seems that our dry season has now begun. We've had lots of big blue-sky days of late. The rainfall total so far this month has amounted to almost nothing, and this is likely to continue now until at least early or mid-December.
So far this month we've only had 1.4mm (that's 0.1 of an inch).
